Reed and White to Host Expo for Military Veterans
3/15/2010

Information about veterans’ benefits, health care, and education will be available

Rep. Dave Reed (R-62) and Sen. Don White (R-41) are inviting local military veterans and their families to join the lawmakers at a FREE Veterans Expo from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 18, at S&T Bank Arena in Indiana.

“Our military veterans have given so much to our country,” Reed said.  “This expo is about giving something back to them.  There are a host of programs and services available to and tailored specifically for our veterans.  We want to make sure our military veterans know about the help that is available to them.  They have definitely earned it.”

“Our country and our Commonwealth have been well served by our military members for more than 200 years,” Senator White said. “Government at all levels recognizes that service and rewards its veterans by providing a number of special benefits and programs. I strongly urge all veterans to attend this informative session and find out what is available to them.”

S&T Bank Arena is located at 497 East Pike Road in Indiana.  Vendors will be on hand to provide veterans with information about health care, educational information, H1N1 vaccinations and veterans’ benefits.

Military veterans are encouraged to bring their DD214 discharge papers to the expo.

“Every day we live in freedom is a blessing paid for through the struggles of our military veterans,” Reed said.  “These folks answered the call to service when our country needed them.  Now, it’s America’s turn to serve them.  We need to take care of our veterans.  After all they’ve done for us, we owe them a lifetime of gratitude.”

Veterans and their family members do not need to register to attend the expo.  For more information, they can call Reed’s Indiana office at 724-465-0220.
