Reed to Host Town Hall Meeting in Blairsville on Thursday
2/23/2010

Rep. Dave Reed (R-Indiana) is inviting local residents to join him at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, for a town hall meeting at the Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department.

“I’ll be there to talk about jobs and the economy, the governor’s recent budget proposal and anything else related to state government,” Reed said.  “The town hall meeting gives me an opportunity to let folks know what I’m doing in Harrisburg to promote a job-friendly business climate in Pennsylvania.  It also gives local folks an opportunity to ask questions and share their opinions about the issues that matter to them and their families.  I really enjoy the give-and-take atmosphere and the opportunity to speak directly with folks about our government.”

The Blairsville Fire Department is located at 51 West Campbell St. in Blairsville.  The event is open to the public; however, reservations are required.  To attend, residents should call Reed’s district office at 724-465-0220 by Monday, March 1, to make a reservation.  Residents are asked to make a reservation to ensure enough refreshments are available for all who attend.

This is the first in a series of three town hall meetings Reed has scheduled in March.  Reed will host a town hall meeting in Indiana on March 11 and another in Homer City on March 25.  Residents can visit Reed’s Web site at RepDaveReed.net and click on the “upcoming events” link to find the dates, times and locations for future town hall meetings.

“Town hall meetings are just one of the many ways that I stay in touch with local residents,” Reed said.  “To be a good legislator, you need to be a good listener.  Whether it’s at a meeting with a constituent in my local office or out at a community event in the district, I make sure I’m available to the people who send me to Harrisburg to represent them.  I never forget who I work for – the people of the 62nd Legislative District.”
